At Matrix Academy, we believe that young women belong in STEM and should feel encouraged to pursue ambitious academic and career paths. That is why we are especially proud to celebrate Angelina K., Matrix Academy Class of 2026 graduate, who plans to study Computer Engineering and has already shown incredible dedication, curiosity, and leadership.

Angelina has always had a strong love for Chemistry. During her studies at Matrix Academy, she not only excelled in the subject but also shared her knowledge with others. She often helped her classmates and peers understand challenging concepts, showing patience, kindness, and a true passion for learning.

Her talent in science was recognized beyond the classroom when she earned a Silver Medal in the British Columbia Chemistry Olympiad / Junior Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (BCCO/JCCO). This national-level contest brings together some of Canada’s top Grade 10 and 11 science students and tests their knowledge, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking in chemistry. Angelina’s achievement reflects her hard work, discipline, and academic excellence.

Reflecting on her experience at Matrix Academy, Angelina shared that the school helped her think “from a different perspective” and approach problems “from different angles.” To her, the learning environment felt “comfortable and understanding,” and her overall academic experience was “supportive, comfortable, and meaningful.”

One of the projects Angelina remembers most was creating her own bakery during a business course. In her words, “The most memorable project was creating my own bakery during a business course. I think it was the assignment where I really put my heart and soul into it.” She also took pride in her English portfolio and final oral exam video, where she combined creativity, independence, and strong communication skills.

Outside the classroom, Angelina loves running marathons, showing the same determination and perseverance in athletics that she brings to her academic life.

Angelina is this year’s Matrix Academy valedictorian and has been admitted to several outstanding universities, including:

  • University of Ottawa
  • McMaster University
  • University of British Columbia
  • York University
  • University of Waterloo
  • Delft University of Technology
  • Eindhoven University of Technology

The last two universities are located in the Netherlands, reflecting the international opportunities Angelina has created for herself through hard work and dedication. The University of Ottawa offered Angelina a $70,000 entrance scholarship, and the University of Waterloo offered her a $10,000 scholarship, recognizing her exceptional academic achievements and strong profile.

We are incredibly proud of Angelina’s growth, leadership, and accomplishments. Her story is a powerful reminder that girls belong in STEM — and that with passion and hard work, they can open doors around the world.
